What is proofreading?
Proofreading is the final check of a document before it is published. It focuses on checking for grammar, spelling and punctuation errors, or inconsistencies. Proofreading is the perfecting stage of editing, the last stage of the process where the document is nearly perfect but needs one last polish.
If you are simply looking for a short document – a letter, article, essay, email or web page – to be checked for mistakes and inconsistencies, proofreading is what you need! A sample of writing is required to determine the cost. £0.005–0.007 per word (for 10k words: between £50 and £70). Contact me for a personalised quotation. Fast tracking is also available if you require a speedy turnaround.
If you have written a novel and it has been through other stages of editing and is ready for a final check, then proofreading is what you need. A sample of writing is required to determine the cost. £0.004–0.007 per word (for 50k words: between £200 and £350)

If your novel hasn’t been through any editing before it is unlikely to be ready for a proofread and you should have a look at my other editing services. You can send me a sample if you like and I can advise you on which service would be best.
